DEFICIT is operated by Stupid Human, trading as Stupid Human Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16995751). By using DEFICIT, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app. Simple.

// THE SERVICE

DEFICIT is a calorie tracking application. We provide tools to help you log food, track activity, and monitor your calorie balance.

DEFICIT IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE. We are not doctors. Consult a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet or exercise routine.

// ACCOUNTS

  • You must be 18+ to create an account
  • You're responsible for keeping your account secure
  • One account per person
  • We can terminate accounts that violate these terms

// SUBSCRIPTIONS

Subscription Required

DEFICIT requires an active subscription to use. After creating your account and completing onboarding, you must subscribe to access the app's features.

Plans

  • PRO MONTHLY: $4.99/month, auto-renews
  • PRO ANNUAL: $34.99/year, auto-renews
  • LIFETIME: $99.99 one-time purchase

Cancellation

If you cancel your subscription, you will retain full access until the end of your current billing period. After that, access to app features will be restricted until you resubscribe.

Billing - iOS App Store

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled 24 hours before the period ends
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account
  • Manage subscriptions in your device's Account Settings
  • Free trial converts to paid subscription unless cancelled
  • Unused trial portion is forfeited upon subscription purchase

Billing - Web Purchases (Paddle)

For purchases made through our website, Paddle.com Market Limited acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions. Paddle handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax/VAT collection, and compliance on our behalf.

  • All prices are displayed inclusive of applicable taxes
  • Paddle accepts major credit cards, PayPal, and other local payment methods
  • Invoices and receipts are provided by Paddle
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • Manage web subscriptions via the link in your Paddle receipt email

// REFUNDS

iOS App Store Purchases

Refunds for purchases made through the iOS App Store are handled by Apple according to their App Store policy. Contact Apple Support for refund requests. We cannot process App Store refunds directly.

Web Purchases (Paddle)

For subscriptions purchased through our website via Paddle, you have the right to cancel and receive a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase, without giving any reason. This is in accordance with consumer protection regulations.

To request a refund within the 14-day cancellation period:

After the 14-day period: Refunds are provided at Paddle's discretion on a case-by-case basis. Refunds are not available for subscription renewals or if there is evidence of abuse.

Sales Tax Refunds: If you are entitled to a sales tax exemption, you must contact Paddle within 60 days of purchase with a valid tax exemption certificate.

Don't:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the app
  • Use the app for commercial purposes without permission
  • Create fake accounts or abuse our systems
  • Use the app in ways that could harm yourself or others

// LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

DEFICIT is provided "as is" without warranty. We're not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to health outcomes, data loss, or subscription charges.

// CHANGES TO TERMS

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We'll notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
